First off, I love how sort of abstract-ish this all looks. The free form of the trees and especially the river coming from the mountain as it goes between the trees.
I love the detail you've added to the leaves in the first layer, both in terms of actual doodley leaves as well as color changes. There's not really a lot I can say for that. You've done a good job conveying perspective with them, and they actually just look really cool
The river looks stunning, it feels a bit like you can really see it move and glimmer. The waves and reflectiveness are gorgeous. It's probably the most abstract thing in the painting, the way that you don't see its edges as it goes through the trees being a fair indicator of this. I think it looks really good, and if you look at the trees on the left (essentially, the third layer of the image) it kind of looks like it's glowing out to the trees, in an aurora-esque pattern.
The third layer, the trees beyond the river act more as silhouettes, since you didn't add as many details as you did for the first layer. However, you did keep a consistent tree heading which, again, creates a very nice perspective as we go towards the mountain. Also, I don't know if you intended for it, but the way you did the trees on the right makes it look like the river splits in two, which is also reinforced by the first layer of trees not connecting with that bunch. It's a subtle thing, but it's good. Even if you didn't mean for it to happen, but you probably did xD
The mountain.. the mountain looks gorgeous. Both the mountain and the sky are very wispy, and it almost creates a wind effect, by making it seem like there is snow flying around the mountain, right near the edges. Even with thick brushing, the mountain "makes sense", there aren't bits that look odd or out of place. With that said, the river also looks completely 'on' the mountain, which is good.
This is more of a commentary than anything else, and I'm not trying to be pro critiquer, or anything, since that's not what I'm doing :b I am proud of you, though, and I think that you shouldn't fret by not getting to where you want with just a few tries. Trust me, that's how I feel about music, too. Keep calm as you make more attempts, and I'm looking forward to you showing them to me, too
